Mechanical Designer / Drafter is responsible for creating Autodesk Plant 3D drawings and construction documents for a wide variety of industrial projects. Qualified candidates must have experience working with others to successfully complete projects. This position is full-time, with benefits, and salary will be commensurate with experience and skill set. As a Mechanical Designer / Drafter you will perform design and drafting duties in planning and design, provide technical, drafting expertise, and play a lead role in the successful execution of projects. Specifically, this position will be responsible for utilizing Plant 3D to support engineering projects, supporting construction efforts by Strobel and others. In addition, this position will be responsible for collaborating with other civil and structural engineering teams in design/drafting, problem solving and having an open mind with design approaches and changes. The primary tools are Autodesk’s Plant 3D and AutoCAD requiring a high degree of expertise with the program. Familiarity and ability to research applicable codes and engineering principles. As most projects will be constructed in part or fully by Strobel Energy Group, the engineering team will be responsible for clearly communicating the design and confirming specifications are achieved by both internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) General: + Prepare construction drawings, details, and construction notes adhering to schedules. + Work closely with civil, structural and mechanical teams. + Proficient at working independently. + Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. + Being efficient with time given for tasks, knowing when to ask for help + Provide technical support, design ideas, and solutions to the engineering teams. + Ability to coordinate and follow engineering standards on projects from conceptual stage through design and construction. + Follow drafting standards, and department procedures to ensure consistency. + Timely completion of designs to support production and the engineering schedule. Requirements: + Proficient with Plant 3D and can perform the following functions: + Organize projects based on construction areas + Modify project settings in Project Setup to meet the needs of the design and construction teams. + Create P&ID’s with all items being tagged and connected + Create custom P&ID components with proper attributes + Use the spec editor and catalog builder to create, update, and maintain a company product catalog and project specifications + Create custom parts and equipment with Plant 3D functionality + Modify the data manager to provide model updates to the design and construction teams + Use the report creator to export project lists for review and issue + Validate the 3D model against the P&ID’s + Proficient in modeling in 3D using AutoCAD + Needs to have basic knowledge of piping, fittings, valves, pumps, fans, and pipe supports. + Preferred 2 -3 years of experience in Mechanical Design & Drafting. + Certified as an Autodesk Certified Professional or Certified Expert. + Willing to learn new skills and software such as: + Civil 3D + Inventor + Revit + Ability to effectively communicate internally and externally in oral and written communication. + Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with varied scope and complexity. + Thinks creatively and alternatively to develop creative ideas and solutions to work-related problems. + A “role up your sleeves” attitude, willing to help wherever needed. + Quality focused with a strong sense of ownership, personal pride in the performance of self and team, and its impact on the organization’s success. + Critical thinker with the ability to solve problems quickly and correctly, sometimes with incomplete information. + Self-motivated with good time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. + Proficient use of software, including Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe or Bluebeam. + Valid driver’s license.
