CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Energy Team Leader to join our Generation & Energy Management Team in Albany, NY; Parsippany, NJ; Rochester, NY; or Syracuse, NY. In this pivotal role, you’ll guide multidisciplinary teams and project managers, influence sustainable energy solutions, and help foster a culture of innovation, sustainability, and technical excellence.
What You'll Do: Lead and inspire a talented group of professionals dedicated to building HVAC design, with a particular focus on energy efficiency and decarbonization — keeping a pulse on team morale and engagementOversee a diverse group of engineers, including staff who have strong backgrounds in HVAC and plumbing design, energy auditing, and commissioning. Oversee staffing levels, resource allocation, and operational activities to ensure optimal team performanceDevelop and mentor staff to deliver high-quality energy management projects—on time and within budgetDirectly manage projects of varying size and scope, from planning and proposal development to closeout and client satisfactionMonitor financial performance, recommend improvements, and drive business practice targetsCommunicate regularly with leadership and staff, sharing key wins, recognition, and performance updatesChampion quality control, risk management, and project audits to ensure technical excellence What You Bring: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferredMinimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience required, with project management and technical leadership experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license requiredExpert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practicesAdvanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering lawsProven success as a leader—strategic, technically astute, and client-focusedExcellent verbal and written communication skills; persuasive and articulate in all settingsParticipation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferredAbility to inspire, motivate, and build relationships across the companyStrong experience with project budgeting and financial oversight Why You'll Love It Here: Lead energy projects that promote sustainable energy solutions and optimize efficiency Collaborate with experienced professionals and accelerate your growth from day one in a culture that values innovation, advocacy, and project excellenceEnjoy a flexible work environment with opportunities for travel and professional developmentCurious about the impactful work our Generation & Energy Management team is doing? Salary Range:$160,000 - $170,000
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
