Job Overview The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for proactive systems performance analysis, resource optimization, life-cycle requirements, and customer interface. Areas of responsibility are critical equipment failures, preventative maintenance (PM), activity management plan (AMP), sub-AMPs, demand maintenance/customer service, NexGen IT/SMS data standards and analysis, project review, integration/warranty management, and contingency planning and response. Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Performs reliability centered maintenance tasks in support and development of preventive maintenance program. Reviews reports from Sustainment Management System (SMS) database. Identifies SMS (BRED 2.0/BUILDER) shortfalls and resolves issues. Ensures quality of data from building assessments as well as data’s upload to BUILDER. Collaborates with shops to provide record updates for Found on Base assets.  Prepares work task to correct deficiency and submit for consideration and prioritization. Reviews architect-engineer submitted designs or preliminary charrette reports and provides comments. Assists technicians in analyzing and scoping work request and preparation of cost estimates. Conducts site visits and help formulate cost estimate for the project. Participates in the pre-final and final inspections of completed projects. Collaborates in finalizing the scope of work for projects. Coordinates with the Real Property Officer and Geospacial Information’s Systems Officer to obtain space allocation and building condition data. Collaborates with the Real Property Officer to reconcile CAT Code issues in facility allocations, to ensure that interpretations of allocations align with authorizations. Activities may involve but are not limited to electric generators, internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines, power-using machines such as refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, machine tools, material handling systems, elevators and escalators, industrial production equipment, and robots used in manufacturing, etc. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited university. Minimum of seven (7) years commercial (non-residential) project experience including at least five (5) years’ experience in a project lead role. Minimum two years of public/governmental organization experience. Completion of WENG 400, 519; WMGT 322, 423; and WTSS 200. Must have experience using Microsoft Office applications. Must be able to acquire and maintain a Secret Security clearance.   Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.  Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.  Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.   Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.   U.S. Citizenship.   Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).     Reasonable Accommodation: CGS will provide reasonable accommodations, according to applicable state and federal laws, to all qualified individuals with physical or mental disabilities.
