Mechanical Engineer
Requires application of mature engineering knowledge in sustaining engineering activities. These activities include projects having scope for independent accomplishment and co-ordination of difficult and responsible assignments. The primary focus for this role will be addressing obsolescence related issues on established designs. Assigned problems make it necessary to modify established guides, devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new ways, and draw conclusions from comparative situations. Finally creating and executing qualification test programs will prove out obsolescence re-designs.

Your Challenge:
Able to effectively work independently and as part of a matrix organization.
Ensure all work is performed according to the Quality Management System (QMS), ASME, and Military/Defense Standards.
Recommendations reviewed for soundness of judgement but usually accepted as technically accurate and feasible.
Address obsolescence issues for existing military naval systems.
Creation, management, and execution of qualification test programs
Analyze existing designs and customer needs to achieve agreement with the Navy for mechanical system requirements, capacity, and cost.
Support interfacing disciplines such as electrical, software, test, customer support, manufacturing, production, product management and project management.
Occasional travel to support on site field service activities and other technical meetings.
Follows every reasonable precaution to ensure work is performed following the Health & Safety procedures. Immediately report accidents and incidents and participate in their investigations.

No direct reports but may provide technical and project leadership to other engineering specialists.
What You Bring:
5 plus years of engineering experience.
5 plus years with hydraulic experience is an asset.
Familiarity with Military Standards for mechanical testing
Experience with naval or airborne machinery including winches, large projects, and their management, as well as government and international customers would be an asset.
Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other departments.
Familiar with preparation of project plans, test procedures, qualification testing and technical reports.
Working experience with design of hydraulic systems is an asset.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
PEO “Professional Engineer” designation.
