Design, development and analysis of mechanical sus-systems, components for locomotive application using applicable standards and Wabtec processes. Support locomotive production at LKZ plant, Astana.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Design and development of mechanical sub-systems and its components for locomotive application using sound Engineering principles, adhering to business standards/ processes and as per program requirements.
· Ability to understand the system requirements flow down to sub-system. Develop concepts and evaluate, identify risks and mitigation plans to address them.
· Proficiency in performing hand calculations for stress, strain, welded & bolted joints on sheet metal designs.
· Collaborate with FEA engineers to validate designs through simulations and analyses per industry standards/design guides and best practices.
· Develop and implement design fixes to address identified gaps and enhance structural integrity.
· Take the design through technical reviews. Document the technical data consistent with Engineering design guides and quality procedures.
· Provide shop support for in-house manufacturing and address supplier/field issues.
· Interfacing with cross functional stakeholders across the organization.
· Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
· Participate in organizational initiatives and team activities.
· Participate in Design review process involving Cross functional to review design scope, Design intent & design output.
· Manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring project scope & schedule.
· Prepare Verification & validation plan for mechanical sub-systems.
· Anticipate Design Risk Analysis & able to Provide corrective actions.
· Ownership of stated technical / safety / cost / reliability / performance requirements for structural and packaging design.
· Interactions will include engineering sub-system teams; systems engineering; drafting team and manufacturing across the global sites.
· Write drawing change requests and interface with drafting team for layouts, detail design, drawings and change implementation.
· Review and approve designs developed by Wabtec designers & detailed drawings completed by drafting.
· Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
. Identify production related issue at factory, create product change request to systematically address the issue, collaborate with cross functional team to resolve the issue and enable smooth production.
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor’s / master’s degree in mechanical engineering Or Equivalent
· Working experience of min 8 years in the Mechanical design, heavy/ Light fabrication area.
· Expertise in structural design ownership with affinity for calculation of material strength/Fatigue, bolted joint, welded joint etc.
· Experience with design verification processes and hand calculations.
· Exposure to FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks) is a plus.
· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
· Ability in navigate UG/Teamcenter.
· Knowledge of Product Life Cycle Management.
· Basic knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, GD&T, Tolerance stack up & AWS spec’s.
· Sound knowledge of DFMA & DFM.
· Good communication and Presentation skills.
