The mechanical engineer is a fundamental element of all our products. This position will be a core member of the Electro-/Mechanical Engineering Staff reporting directly to the NPD Manager. The successful candidate will perform mechanical engineering design in a professional manner and typically include:
Duties and responsibilities
Perform mechanical design and development using 3D CAD software (Creo).Adhere to standards for mechanical engineering best practice.Deliver innovative, optimised engineering solutions.Deliver design solutions against requirements, within budget and timescales.Respectful of others with a high degree of personal integrity.Challenge ideas, proposed solutions and people in a constructive, positive manner.Carry out 'first-pass' structural analysis to determine if a design is fit for purposeConceive, design, analyze, optimize, detail, and validate new mechanical and electromechanical systems.Satisfy all appropriate product requirements (functionality, performance, cost, quality, etc.) and project requirements (timing, budget, etc.) and achieve agreed commitments.Ensure design robustness and consistent product quality through engineering diligence and comprehensive validation testing.Visit customer locations w/Sales and Product Management to understand customer needs and product concerns firsthand.Work cooperatively within a cross-functional team and with other cross-functional stakeholders; communicate regularly up, down, and across the organization.Learn and continually demonstrate each of the Allegion Values.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline1-4 years of technical experienceEnglish language fluency (mandatory)Key competencies
