Mechanical Engineer
Job description
Design/engineering: You perform analyses and calculations to support the Mechanical design process. You design and review Mechanical schematics of Mechanical installations. You convert design drawings and specifications from Smulders and from clients into: Equipment lists Cable lists PE cable lists Cable ladders You advise on the selection of mechanical materials. You prepare As-Built documentation. You draft Technical Queries (TQs) to clarify the scope and design. You draft Variation Orders (VORs) when the design scope deviates from the contract scope. You have close contact with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors for technical follow-up. Engineering Support: You provide support during the tender and project execution phases (procurement, factory acceptance test, assembly, installation, and commissioning). You support the project team and other involved departments with your expertise and thorough knowledge of the standards in the offshore mechanical scope. You contribute to finding solutions for design problems in both offices and production facilities. Design improvements: You make recommendations regarding design optimization. You develop standard designs to improve the efficiency of design work. Testing & inspection: You prepare an inspection test plan and communicate it to the client, quality inspectors, test engineers, and subcontractors. You support the commissioning team at production facilities. Our ideal candidate: Has successfully completed a technical bachelor's or master's degree and has knowledge of and experience with Mechanical installations of offshore wind farms. Has a good knowledge of English. Knowledge of Dutch, French, or German is a plus. Works mainly at our site in Arendonk and regular presence at the Smulders yard in Hoboken is required. Is a team player who shows initiative and has a no-nonsense mentality.
