Job Description
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into mechanical design specifications. Design and develop mechanical components, systems, and assemblies for robotic products, ensuring functionality, reliability, and manufacturability. Conduct detailed analysis, simulations, and testing of mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety. Generate detailed engineering drawings, documentation, and reports to communicate design concepts and specifications. Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into the manufacturing process. Support product development throughout the entire lifecycle, from concept to production, including testing and qualification.
ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into mechanical design specifications.Design and develop mechanical components, systems, and assemblies for robotic products, ensuring functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.Conduct detailed analysis, simulations, and testing of mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.Generate detailed engineering drawings, documentation, and reports to communicate design concepts and specifications.Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into the manufacturing process.Support product development throughout the entire lifecycle, from concept to production, including testing and qualification.Essential SkillsMasters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.5+ years of relevant engineering design, integration, and/or test experience.Experience with a real-world robotic platform and/or robotics hardware.Experience with marine technologies including vehicles or infrastructure.Familiarity with electromechanical systems and integration of electrical components.Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.Experience with Linux, Python, Git, AsciiDoc, and/or ROS2.Proficiency in 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) for mechanical design and simulation.Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science.Experience with designing and analyzing mechanical systems, such as motors, gears, linkages, and structural components.Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to prototype development and testing.Additional Skills & QualificationsBS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Experience in mechanical design and development, preferably in the robotics or marine industry.Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment and industrial environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This role will also require the employee to complete work on a variety of offshore platforms, various bodies of water, and small vessels. While performing some duties of this job, the employee will be required to travel domestically and internationally to field sites. Conditions may include exposure to heat, cold, a variety of offshore platforms, bodies of water, loud environments, small vessel maritime conditions, and 12-hour shifts. The performance of this position may also occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
