Indicative assignment length: Initial 6-month contract + potential full time staff position thereafter

The role

We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join an innovative team at a leading company providing who are a global provider of automation and electrification solutions, specializing in mining and heavy industries. If you have a solid foundation in mechanical engineering and experience with design, drafting, and project management in mining or similar sectors, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities: Designing and Drafting: Develop and create designs for mining-specific products and solutions, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and project specifications. Contract Management: Oversee contractors and service providers working on various projects, ensuring high-quality results and meeting deadlines. Technical Support: Provide expert technical advice and support related to the company's products, both to internal teams and external clients. Project Reporting: Regularly communicate project performance to clients, ensuring that timelines, quality, and budget are adhered to. Documentation: Prepare and maintain essential project documentation, such as Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), MDRs, and Inspection Reports, ensuring clients receive all relevant documents upon project completion. Collaboration: Work closely with sales, purchasing, and workshop staff, along with external clients and suppliers, to ensure smooth project execution.
What you'll need to succeed: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. At least 3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering projects and design, with a focus on mining or heavy industries. Experience in steel fabrication is advantageous. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (or similar 2D and 3D design platforms). Experience with 2D/3D workshop drawings and technical documentation is a MUST. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project, is preferred. Ability to manage contractor relationships and provide support during equipment commissioning and repairs. Key Competencies: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively report to clients and internal teams. Strong focus on client satisfaction and a commitment to delivering projects on time, within scope, and to the highest standards.
