Mechanical Engineer
Position Description:

CGI Federal is seeking a certified Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Albany, GA. The position requires a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills, problem solving ability and organizational skills. The Mechanical Engineer serves as a technical consultant providing technical advice and information to other engineers and, technicians, and other divisions/agencies.

This position is located in Albany, GA.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

-The candidate will assist engineers and technicians in the design/prototype of equipment required to support the production processes.
-Create and review engineering sketches/drawing packages, request for deviation waivers, engineering change proposals, administrative work instructions, manufacturing work instructions, cost estimates, and other engineering documents required to support the design, manufacture, rebuild and repair process.
-Use engineering judgement to ensure all designs are safe, reliable, cost effective, and meet requirements.
-Perform troubleshooting on a variety of systems that develop unusual/unique problems during the design, development, prototyping, and low rate of initial phases of production.
-Coordinate and assists other engineers in the development of statements of work (SOW’s).
-From Statement of work, develop Bills of Material (BOM’s) to accomplish the project.
- Determines skill sets required and develops labor hour and material cost estimates for funding approval from the customer.
-Identifies materials to be used in prototype.
-Prepares technical instructions and publications as required for future procurement.
-Prepares sketched and preliminary drawings for the drafting personnel.
-Works with drafting personnel and others to ensure a complete drawing package is produces for future procurement.
-Draft provisioning lists for use in publishing repair parts and major components.
- Solve problems during the Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) production.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
• Able to lift over 50 lbs.
• Able to stand/walk in excess of 4 hours at a time
• Able to use standard office automation tools and software proficiently
• Possess a solid knowledge and understanding of USMC inventory management, categorization and storage techniques.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the use of inventory software.
• Exhibits ability to interpret and explain inventory reports.
• Pays close attention to detail.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
• Exhibits ability to think creatively in order to devise best inventory control practices.
• 4 years of Relevant Logistics Experience
• Customer-facing support skills
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a college accredited by the Engineering Council for Professional Development. Engineering field should be related to the role in the Mechanical or Industrial Engineering field.
• Professional knowledge of mechanical engineering principles is required.
• Familiarity with other engineering disciplines such as electrical and civil engineering is a must.
• Demonstrated ability to perform professional engineering services to support design, fabrication, manufacture, maintenance, repair, and rebuild of various Marine Corps equipment. Engineering services include functions such as research, reverse engineering, evaluation, inspection, and standardization of equipment, processes, materials, and components.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes and technology including electronics/electrical testing and inspection.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical theory and other processes used to rebuild, repair, and modify various equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulics, metal, mechanical theory, and other processes used to rebuild, repair, and modify various equipment.
• Knowledge of rebuilds and repair operations of various engines, transmissions, and other power train components.
• Have the ability to interpret and apply specifications, job plans, work orders, drawings, depot maintenance work requirements, rebuild standards, technical manuals, procedures, verbal or written instructions, and other technical documentation.
• Have the ability to develop and design complex modifications and system upgrades for Marine Corps ground equipment from multiple commodities.
• Have the ability to develop planning and scheduling for assign projects and motivate team members or employees.
• Have the ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
• Have the ability to gather, analyze, and present facts for technical problems.
• Have the ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, instructions

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $69,700.00 - $137,100.00.
