Your role and responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer Associate – Product Development will be responsible for the design and specification of mechanical components for a complete range of NEMA motors. You will complete drawings and manufacturing Bills Of Material (BOM) and apply engineering principles and judgment in the motor design process. You will engage in initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the Product Development and R&D Engineering Function. This engineer will design motors which are successful in unique applications and to meet customer expectations.The work model for the role is: #LI-Onsite.Some travel may be required to Athens, GA and Flowery Branch, GA manufacturing sites, as well as customer visits for this position (estimated 10% travel).This role is contributing to the Motion NEMA Motors division in Athens, GA. Main stakeholders are Mechanical Engineering, Operations, Production, Inside Sales and external customers. You will be mainly accountable for:-\tCreating motor designs, drawings, models, and Bills Of Material required to manufacture motors for Product Development custom orders. Complete orders per customer, application, and industry requirements within project timelines and department KPIs. -\tConsulting with Inside Sales and District Offices as a technical resource, to clarify customer requirements and ensure motor designs created meet application requirements and customer expectations. May provide existing design alternatives and facilitate the resolution of custom order issues. -\tProviding engineering support during the bid phase and ensures that the resources required to deliver the technical solutions are correctly accounted for (e.g., safety, cybersecurity, technical competence, quality, schedule, and cost requirements).-\tEnsuring the projects and operations value chain portfolio follows sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures and that the projects are closed as per the contract specifications. Qualifications for the role

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.Experience using 3D Design Software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, AutoCAD or similar). Proficient with MS Office, SAP (preferred). Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to function in an environment with timelines related to customer commitments and deadlines. Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
