The Opportunity:
Canfor is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer Co-op Student to join our team. In this role, you will gain relevant experience working in an industrial setting and apply your educational background to everyday challenges.

Skills You'll Learn

Health & Safety awareness and recognition. Presentation and communication skills. Strategy development, analytical techniques and root cause analysis. Knowledge in the areas of Mechanical Engineering, design, and maintenance. Working in a team environment.

The Role:
The position will report directly to the Maintenance/Engineering Manager and you will:

Assist with evaluating equipment problems and failures to determine “root cause” with the goal of eliminating future failures by implementing long term corrective measures. Contribute technical support and planning to the Maintenance and Production departments. Identify, design and implement innovative, high return projects that enhance the operation and maintenance of the facility. Enter data into assets systems. Provide support for contractors on various major projects.

The Candidate:

Previous experience in the Pulp and Paper Industry is an asset. Preference is completion of first or second term 3rd year Mechanical Engineering. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; capable of working in a team environment. Must be self-motivated. Currently enrolled or have graduated within the last year from post-secondary Mechanical Engineering or related field.
 

The Incentive

Competitive salary - $54,500.00-57,500.00 depending on year of study and experience. Benefits package includes core medical coverage. If applicable, Co-op fees will be paid for by Canfor

The salary range for this position is: $54,500.00-$56,000.00
