**About The Position**
The engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of mechanical systems within Ameren's facilities. The engineer is responsible for standards, design reviews, and advising maintenance activities for mechanical systems, such as HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), plumbing, and fire protection systems in commercial buildings across Ameren's operations territory. The engineer reviews that mechanical systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations and works closely with other engineers, architects, and facility managers to scope, coordinate, and commission mechanical system installations and upgrades.
**Key responsibilities include:**
+ Implement design improvements to enhance system efficiency and reduce operational costs.
+ Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
+ Perform regular inspections and maintenance of mechanical systems to ensure they are functioning optimally.
+ Work closely with other engineers, architects, and facility managers to coordinate mechanical system installations and upgrades.
+ Verify scope of new mechanical systems is archived and oversees commissioning and equipment turnover to facility owner.
+ Maintain accurate documentation of mechanical system designs, maintenance schedules, and repair records.
+ Lead certain mechanical engineering projects from conception to completion. Develop engineering solutions, cost, and schedule estimates associated with small projects. Upon project authorization, perform detailed scoping and work with contractors or internal labor to replace or improve commercial equipment.
+ Provide engineering assistance to FM&C critical facilities and Operating Centers within the company on activities requiring experience and expertise with mechanical systems.
+ Manage building controls systems to improve equipment efficiencies and troubleshoot mechanical systems. Look for opportunities within the control system to help perform condition-based maintenance and eliminate equipment failures.
+ Interface with industry contacts and outside corporations, including consultants, contractors, and their employees.
**Qualifications:**
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (BSE - Mechanical) from an ABET accredited institution required. PE License preferred. Five or more years of relevant engineering experience required.
Experience with industrial control systems (PLC, Instrumentation, VFDs, Control Valves, Field Control Devices, etc.) preferred. Experience with equipment startup and commissioning preferred.
**In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:**
Must possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills must be highly adaptable to a changing industry and willing to learn new skills as required, Must be able or willing to learn how to configure and program industrial control systems, Must have or be willing to acquire a working knowledge of industrial networking. Travel between regional offices occasionally and outside of the St. Louis area as needed, Subject to infrequent callouts (nights, weekends) work to support critical operations centers.

Ameren’s selection process includes a series of interviews and may include candidate testing and/or an individual aptitude or skill-based assessment. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.
**Compensation Range:**
$86,400.00 - $168,000.00
* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant’s credentials.
At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
