The Mechanical Engineer I will perform broad entry level work on a variety of engineering programs. The entry level role will work on projects for large and small customers with aggressive timelines. The role will also determine an understanding of the customer’s unique component design, validation, and release needs. The Mechanical Engineer I will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions. This position is located in Livonia, MI.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:
Partner with designers to produce 3D designs for mechanical equipment in an accurate and timely manner under the supervision of lead engineer or supervisorParticipate in engineering calculations and analysis for design efforts and projectsRead, analyze, interpret, and create technical documents, engineering drawings, and engineering documentationAssist in the quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness of designsCommunicate progress, challenges, and next steps to customers, stakeholders and team membersInterface with internal and external customers and vendors to ensure satisfactory technical requirements and schedulesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure new and current customer demands and standards are metTo be considered as a Mechanical Engineer, you will need:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or relatedExposure to complex mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical motors and actuators)Familiarity with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, SolidWorks or Siemens NX Unigraphics (UG)Good computer skills including Microsoft Office SuiteStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical data to various audiencesHands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide robust solutions to complex problems in a timely and cost-effective mannerA successful candidate may also have:
1 year of experience in Mechanical EngineeringIndustry internships, SAE International competition experience (Formula SAE, Baja SAE, enterprise programs)Exposure to DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), DVPs (Design Verification Plan), DFM (Design for Manufacturing), FEA (Finite Element Analysis), OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) release systems and proceduresExposure to vehicle dynamic evaluationsExposure to 2D drawing development and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) application and bolted and welded joint applicationsFamiliarity with software suites CATIA, PROe (Pro/Engineer), or MATLABOur full-time benefits include: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, earned sick time, STD, LTD, 401K, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation, paid holidays, and more.
