Job Description

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Join a team producing industry-leading inkjet printheads and systems.  Design and analyze mechanical systems to further advance and optimize product performance. Conduct feasibility studies and validation testing on product designs to ensure compliance with manufacturing and reliability requirements.  Provide detailed design input to affect a successful design and testing effort for equipment and processes deployed to the manufacturing floor.  Use statistical analysis techniques such as advanced mathematics to define system input requirements and measure design effectiveness.

A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position.

JOB COMPLEXITY

Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.  

SUPERVISION

Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.

EXPERIENCE

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

                                                                                                                    

Assisting in the design and manufacture of custom ink jet printheads and systems.Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to execute projects.Using CAD to create solid models, assemblies, technical drawings and to perform simple simulations and analyses.Planning, designing and implementing new tests, specifying appropriate equipment and methods.Leading problem solving efforts using Six Sigma tools, DMAIC processes, and statistics to make decisions based upon key parameter capabilities in terms of Cp/Cpk, Gauge RR, Systems biases, and other.Seeking opportunities to enhance printhead design, tooling systems, manufacturing processes, plant capacity, and safety.Providing clear and concise documentation of test processes and system design.Conducting design reviews and integrating input when determining critical design, system, and procedural requirements.Adeptly using statistical software packages to analyze, correlate, and report results.Writing and presenting reports to engineering teams and management.May support asset utilization and capacity planning.May train technicians and other engineers to implement new and revised procedures.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

                                                                                                          

May help coordinate the efforts of peers and junior engineers to meet schedule and project goals.Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience, Master’s degree with 3 years, or PhD without experience, or equivalent experienceDesign experience using 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks, and GD&TAbility to problem-solve using scientific methods and engineering principles to arrive at practical solutionsHigh level of creativitySelf-motivated and eager to work in a fast paced, hands-on environment.Willingness to be mentored by senior engineersComprehensive written, verbal, and presentation skills to effectively communicate with peers, project teams, and managementAbility to work and multi-task across several functional departments or across multiple projectsDemonstrated knowledge in DFM, DFA, machine design, tooling designExperience using statistics and statistical tools (Minitab)Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

 

DESIRED:

Simulation or analysis experience using FEA, Ansys, COMSOL, or equivalentExpertise using Excel, VBA, or other database and statistical packagesTrained in clean room protocol.Inkjet experience
