OnsiteThis Mechanical Engineering Intern position is within the Collins Aerospace Simulation & Training (STS) business area in Sterling, VA. Collins Aerospace STS-Sterling develops, builds and modifies aircraft simulators and training systems for both military and commercial customers. Devices range in complexity from a desktop trainer to a high fidelity weapon system and full-flight training systems.
What You Will Do:
Work under supervision to provide technical support to engineers on a variety of engineering tasks.Perform basic to moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects.Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of tasks.Plan and execute experiments and gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as engineering design changes to support engineering disciplines.Produce drawings, reports and engineering documentation.What You Will Learn:
Gain knowledge in research, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Learn about applied research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. Learn test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects. Produce parts, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requestsQualifications You Must Have:
