GENERAL DESCRIPTION:\n
Tyonek is dedicated to solving problems for current and future warfighters. We are seeking a motivated individual to take on the position of a senior mechanical engineer. You will hold a key role in our aircraft integration efforts. Using your mechanical engineering expertise, you will design and develop the integration of avionics and weapons systems into multiple vehicle platforms for customers including US DoD, foreign military, and\/or commercial entities. You may also be the technical lead for projects during both the design and test phases. \n
DUTIES:\n\nA wide degree of creativity and latitude is encouraged.\nDevelop CAD technical data packages to include 3D models, and 2D drawings using CAD software.\nDevelop design solutions to complex mechanical issues in the field of rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft with considerations for weight, thermal, vibration, corrosion and airworthiness.\nPerform classical stress and Finite Element Analysis. \nPerform and write specifications, engineering analysis and reports as required to obtain airworthiness certification.\nCoordinate with manufacturing engineering to identify manufacturing efficiencies early in the design cycle.\nSupport manufacturing engineering during the manufacturing phase. \nDevelop and present formal and informal design reviews. \nEffectively communicate with Airworthiness Authorities.\nAid technical writers in development of installation instructions\/MWOs. \nProvide engineering support during prototype, validation and verification of aircraft modifications.\nReview completed installations to ensure conformance to design. \nSupport component level qualification testing.\nSupport system and\/or aircraft level functional and airworthiness testing.\nMentor junior mechanical engineers\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nMay report to an executive or a manager.\n\n
EDUCATION\/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:\n\nBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) is preferred.\nA minimum of 12 years related experience is required. \nKnowledge of Mechanical engineering principals.\nExperience in aircraft structures design to include sheet metal, machined and composite parts and assemblies.\nUnderstanding of aircraft structures, load paths and designing for crash loads.\nWorking knowledge of material selections using the Metallic Material Properties Development and Standardization (MMPDS) Handbook (formally MIL-HDBK-5) and Composite Materials Handbook (MIL-HDBK-17). \nWorking knowledge and understanding of military and commercial aerospace practices, processes, specifications and standards.\nKnowledge of MIL-STD-31000, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards and associated drawing and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements. \nExperience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA and\/or Creo CAD software; a high degree of skill in SolidWorks is required. \nAbility to write and review airworthiness documents, plans and test procedures.\nGeneral understanding of manufacturability of sheet metal, machined and composite parts and assemblies. \nHigh degree of skill in performing Classical Stress and Finite Element Analysis.\nWorking knowledge of aircraft corrosion prevention methods, techniques and treatments.\nWorking knowledgeable of DoD aircraft technical manuals.\nExperience in developing DoD and\/or FAA aircraft airworthiness certification substantiation analysis and reports; e.g; Weight & Balance, Drag, Structural, Crash Loads, Thermal, etc. \nAbility to operate in a fast-paced multi-tasking customer service-oriented environment with a high degree of efficient and effective performance.\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.\nWe maintain a drug-free workplace and perform post offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing.\n\n
