**_In your role as Mechanical Engineer at Kohler Ventures you will:_**
+ Work directly with the Head of Hardware, hardware engineering team, and product teams
+ Iteratively explore concept ideas by visualization and physical interactions using sketching, digital illustration, 3D CAD and renderings, hand-built physical mock-ups, and 3D prints
+ Create many diverse ideas to inspire and stimulate meaningful products and customer experiences, with consideration for mechanically-sound and feasible designs
+ Work very closely with all new product development departments, especially Industrial Design, Product Engineering, Marketing, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, in a collaborative team atmosphere.
+ Refine concept designs into 3D parametric CAD, including the definition of part break-up with consideration for manufacturing and assembly
+ Explore CMF (color, materials, and finishes) with samples and renderings to deliver a high-end and well-executed consumer product
+ Lead new product development activities to generate innovative concepts and solutions for product fit, form and function
+ Develop approaches to concept development and execute design research, product concept drawings, physical modeling, and product presentations
+ Communicate all mechanical specifications and maintain design integrity throughout the development process
+ Develop cross-functional relationships across the organization to ensure product, strategy, and design requirements are understood throughout the product design process
**Skills/Requirements**
**_Qualifications_**
+ 10+ years of professional mechanical development experience
+ 5+ years of experience in digital healthcare, wellness device design and development
+ A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited educational institution
+ A strong understanding of fundamental mechanical and design principles
+ Possesses a solid background in the design of mechanical components and systems using modern MCAD software such as Solidworks, including revision control
+ Determine, document, and perform necessary changes for compliance and quality assurance
**_Preferred Qualifications_**
+ A Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited educational institution preferred
+ Experience in planning design projects from collecting requirements, concept development and prototyping
+ Creating documentation, such as requirements documents, design documents, design review documents, to ensure quality and traceability is strongly preferred
+ Research, understand, and ensure that the product and its associated mechanical components meets relevant safety and compliance standards
+ Determine, document, and perform necessary changes for compliance and quality assurance
+ Experience in consumer electronics, connected or smart home devices experience preferred
+ Experience in a startup or incubator environment, iterating products from inception to launch and building an effective product and design team
+ A demonstrated history of accountability and performance delivery, leading teams to meet or exceed objectives
+ Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on data-driven decision making
+ Experience collaborating with internal multi-discipline
