Responsibilities
Role:
This is a subject-matter-expert role supporting utilities operations at Eastman’s world headquarters as well as other Eastman sites around the globe. You will work with a team of other mechanical and electrical engineers, sharing responsibilities so everyone has interesting work and an enjoyable work-life balance. The Kingsport site generates all its own steam and most of its own electrical power (160 MW), has a dedicated industrial wastewater treatment system, incineration facilities, heat transfer fluid systems, large refrigeration systems, thermal oxidizers, other utility equipment, and many miles of distribution piping. Other Eastman sites, while smaller, have their own interesting utility systems. The work is varied and filled with opportunities for your creative, innovative solutions. You will be supported by technical experts in other fields, who have a well-deserved reputation for being exceptionally helpful and approachable. You will work a day-shift schedule with occasional need for after-hours and weekend support.
Responsibilities:
• Provide quality design and support for utilities systems (compressed air, chilled water, steam, hot oil, process, and other mechanical) at Eastman sites
• Lead engineering studies and perform calculations/evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for mechanical utilities at manufacturing sites
• Develop mechanical designs and specifications that form the basis for placing purchase orders for equipment and contracts for installation of the equipment and systems
• Recommend operating and maintenance practices for mechanical equipment
• Participate in commissioning of new and modified systems
• Perform fluid flow modeling and troubleshooting
• Develop and maintain utilities distribution models
• Manage projects effectively and efficiently
• Participate in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned capital projects
• Provide consultation and guidance related to utilities, for operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel at Eastman sites
• Mentor and provide guidance for less experienced engineers
• Provide leadership and contribute to applicable engineering standards
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering
• 5+ years relevant professional experience in Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Familiar with relevant regulations, standards, and codes such as ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI, etc
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Travel:
• Some periodic travel (domestic & international) may be required
