Job Description
The Mechanical Engineering Project Manager will have constant contact with Sales Engineers and Installation personnel to receive and communicate design requirements and results. This role frequently interacts with customers, requiring reasonable tact and strong verbal and written communication skills.
ResponsibilitiesUnderstand HVAC design and engineeringDraft and read blueprintsApply knowledge of local, national, and state codesSelect equipment, duct, and pipingCommunicate with inside and outside customers regarding equipment design, installation, and operations of HVAC systems and controls for the design/build, negotiation, add-on, and replacement marketsSize heating and cooling loads for the selection of equipment and distribution systemsEstimate and price equipment, materials, labor, and subcontractorsDraft CAD designs for equipment, duct, and pipe layoutWork with registered engineers and inspectors for design approvalsFollow detailed office procedures to assure proper flow from system design through purchasing, installation, pricing, and job costingCollaborate with salespeople on installation projects involving system design, equipment selection, heat loads, energy analysis, CAD, making job folders, ordering, expediting, and checking in on equipmentWork with the Operations Manager, installation crew, and subcontractors to ensure the project runs smoothlyAnswer questions, provide PO numbers to installers, call for inspections, and follow the project through to the final OEM packetPresent proposals when neededEssential SkillsMechanical engineeringMechanical designProject managementHVAC designHydronicsSteam equipmentBoilersLoad calculationHVACBlueprint readingDraftingCADAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s or Associate's degree in HVAC/R EngineeringFive or more years of experience in commercial/industrial HVAC designFive or more years of project estimating and project management experienceExperience working/designing steam rooms, boilers, hydronics, load calculations, refrigeration units, HVAC, pumps, compressors, and fansExperience with AutoCAD or similar design software is a plusWork Environment
The schedule is flexible, with the possibility of working one day remotely. The job requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, operate a motorized vehicle, and walk for extended periods. There may be exposure to potentially harmful chemicals or materials, but proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided. The role also involves hearing and speaking to exchange information, kneeling or crouching to accomplish different tasks, and seeing for computer data entry. Strong English speaking and writing skills are required. Autonomy is granted to run projects from start to finish. The company is an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) organization, with eligibility after one year and full vesting after five years.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.65 - $46.55/hr.
