Job Purpose: 

\r\n

The Mechanical Engineer Supervisor will perform complex, non-repetitive, supervisory duties which will monitor department performance daily. Direct all maintenance team members. Ensure that all paperwork is distributed & being filled out properly in a timely manner. Maintain a safe environment to work in & to monitor all necessary procedures and to oversee the entire installation, operation, maintenance, and modification of facilities, equipment, and physical needs of the plant operation; design/adapt special production machinery; and maintain surveillance over manufacturing processes for the purpose of reducing and controlling costs to facilitate production at maximum efficiency and safety at minimum cost.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

\r\n\r\nDirect training of team members in mechanical repairs of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical equipment.\r\nAssist team members in diagnosing malfunctions in machine and equipment. Direct team members in dismantling, assembling and installing industrial machinery during plant repair, modification and/or expansion.\r\nInterpret company policies to team members and enforce safety regulations.\r\nSuggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department and/or maintenance crews.\r\nConduct training programs for department team members on specific mechanical equipment.\r\nAnalyze, resolve, and recommend repair, and construction and/or equipment modification; assist team members and/or contractors in solving related problems.\r\nInterpret specifications, blueprints and job orders to team members and outside contractors.\r\nEstablish or adjust work procedures to meet project and production schedules.\r\nRecommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Confer with manager and supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments relative to equipment function and construction projects.\r\nAssist in planning, budget and recommend facility modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts and contract for construction and acquisitions\r\n\r\n

 Education & Experience:  

\r\n\r\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or four-year degree in related field.\r\nMinimum of four years of experience as a supervisor in a related industry.\r\nExpert knowledge of mechanical designs, installations, maintenance and repairs.\r\nOversee team members in resolving problems by using theoretical knowledge in the field of discipline and critical thinking skills.\r\nWork independently in making critical decisions as it relates to regulatory state and federal compliance.\r\nDirect clearly and concisely with excellent verbal and written communication skills.\r\nIntermediate computer skills.\r\n\r\n

Language Skills:

\r\n\r\nAble to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, and work orders in the English language preferred. \r\nBilingual ability in both spoken and written Spanish and English is preferred, but not required.\r\n Physical Demands:\r\nThe employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. \r\nMust be able to work with all types of electrical equipment and tools.\r\n\r\n

 Work Environment:

\r\n\r\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee supervises team members working near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration.  \r\nThe duties of this job requires a person to stoop, bend, work off of knees, climb ladders and work in high areas up to 130 feet, work in dark areas and work in confined spaces after trained to do so. \r\nMust be able to climb ladder and wear fall protection as necessary.\r\nThe noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.\r\n\r\n
