Job Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic role requires basic knowledge of General Maintenance, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic, Electrical and Electronic Systems, and Welding (TIG, STICK). Mechanics must follow all safety and GMP’s for the facility at all times.

 

Key Responsibilities

Follow all company safety policies and proceduresEnsure all assigned daily PM’s are completedEnsure production lines are in good mechanical orderAid other teams (Production, Quality- when needed)Setup and visually inspect and tests machinery and equipment and tear downListens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other personnel to diagnose problems or repair machineDismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired partsCleans and lubricates shafts, bearings gears, and other parts of machineryRepairs and maintains the physical structures of the establishmentNOTE: this description is not intended to be all inclusive. An employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization; these duties are considered marginal. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Must be 18 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)Ability to learn mechanical systems and food manufacturing processes.Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks (PIT).Understand and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to read and execute work order, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals.Read, write, and orally communicate in English and ability to work with no or little supervision.Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled

Preferred Qualifications:

Metal fabrication skills1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years’ direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment.Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance or school (Preferred)Previous management experience in meat slaughter facilityBilingual English / Spanish

Summary

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
