Dewberry’s vibrant Raleigh, NC office includes over 200 design professionals, including a growing Thermal Infrastructure group focused on providing assessments, master-planning, and design services for campuses primarily across North Carolina and Virginia. Our thermal infrastructure experience includes the design of a variety of thermal distribution systems, campus master planning, condition assessments, central utility plant design, district heating plant design, and building conversions for steam, heating hot water, and chilled water systems. Raleigh’s MEP group contains subject matter experts, regularly attending and presenting at ASHE conferences. Our repeat clients include some of the largest campuses in the region. The Raleigh office has other focused MEPS design groups serving healthcare, higher education, K-12 schools, infrastructure clients, and more.
Because our backlog continues to grow, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Raleigh, NC office’s existing thermal infrastructure department. As a mechanical engineer you will be responsible for the design of thermal infrastructure systems. You will collaborate with a team of engineers on a variety of thermal infrastructure projects. In addition to collaborating with mechanical engineers, you will team with structural, civil, electrical, and other disciplines to provide full-range services to our clients.
Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer you would be expected to prepare mechanical engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates to meet project requirements. Projects may include design of thermal distribution systems, campus master planning, district, and central utility plant design, building conversion design, and condition assessments.
Required Skills & Required Experience
Experience in the design of institutional, educational, healthcare, laboratory and military projects is desired. The candidate should have a proven track record of solid design work, meeting project deadlines and budgets, and working well in a team environment.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related fieldProfessional Engineer’s license. Existing licensure in NC and/or VA is preferred.5+ years of technical experience in the design of thermal distribution systems, central utility plants, and/or building mechanical systems.Experience in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or drafting is a plus.Experience in pipe stress modeling is a plus.Self-motivated and well organized.Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.Do not meet every single requirement?
