Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Mechanical Engineering Intern position. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer.
As an Mechanical Engineering Intern, a typical day might include the following:
1. Provide support to mechanical engineering staff as needed:
- Functional/qualification test plans, testing, and test reports
- Tolerance, return on investment (ROI), thermal, and structural analysis
- Design of plastic, machined, sheet metal, and die cast parts
2. Update SolidWorks models and drawings.
3. Data entry of technical information into company databases (MS Access, Lotus Notes, SolidWorks).
4. Follow mechanical development and quality assurance procedures.
5. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
6. Understand. Create. Simplify.
This job might be for you if:
You are currently in pursuit of BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with one to two years engineering education completed
You are able to conduct defined testing procedures.
You have strong problem-solving skills.
You have working knowledge of MS Office Applications or equivalent.
You have at least one year SolidWorks Experience (or equivalent CAD software).
You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
You Are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
You are able to work cooperatively in a team environment.
You have background check results satisfactory to SEL.
You have negative drug test result(s).

Pay Range Data
($19.50 - $29.50 per hour)* Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
