Mechanical Engineering Intern

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Mechanical Engineering Intern position. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer and will live in the Pullman, WA area.

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, a typical day might include the following: 

Provide support to manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, customer service, or logistics staff as needed.

Development and/or validation of new internal or customer facing packaging solutions for the entire company.

Development and/or validation of manufacturing tooling/process solutions.

Management of packaging and tooling projects.

Return on investment calculations.

Working directly with suppliers.

Data entry of technical information into company databases (MS Excel/Word and SolidWorks).

Traveling to various SEL facilities within the Moscow, Pullman, Lewiston campuses.

Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

This job might be for you if:

You are currently in pursuit of BS in Industrial, Mechanical, or Packaging Engineering with one to two years engineering education completed.

You are able to conduct defined testing procedures which may or may not require heavy or team lifting.

You have and are able to lead, work cooperatively, and apply strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced team environment.

You have an eye for detail and a strong customer focus.

You have working knowledge of MS Office Applications, SolidWorks, and/or equivalent.

You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

You are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

You have background check results satisfactory to SEL.

You have negative drug test result(s).
