As an intern, you will participate in our nationwide BAE Systems Inc. Internship & Co-Op Program, LEAP, where you will have the opportunity to Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. This internship is for May August 2025, but earlier start dates may be accommodated. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Minneapolis, MN facility. Relocation will not be offered.
BAE Systems is a leader in the defense industry and currently has a need for Mechanical Engineering interns. Mechanical Engineering Interns work in multi-disciplinary team environment performing mechanical engineering tasks for one or more areas of CMS product lines. You will perform roles similar in nature to our entry-level engineers, applying basic engineering design, analytical theory, principles, techniques and practices for design and development of defense related product applications.
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will:
1. Assist product design team senior engineering personnel in design, development, and selection of basic mechanical components using fundamental engineering principles, theories and practices.
2. Assist with the creation and documentation of 3D models and drawings using PTC Creo.
3. Assist with the creation of, provide inputs to, and make revisions to technical documentation, reports, papers, or presentations.
4. Support component, subassembly, subsystem, and system manufacturing, integration, and test activities.
5. Maintain professional relationships with company employees, clients and customers, both internal and external.
6. Keep management abreast of progress and pending problems.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Must be a US Person due to the nature of our business
+ Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university in the Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
+ Completed the equivalent of at least the Junior year of undergraduate studies in an engineering program
+ Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant field of specialization
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
+ Experience with Computer Aided Design software, such as PTC Creo, or equivalent.
+ Familiarity with MS Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Minimum GPA-3.0
+ Ability to research and apply mechanical or aerospace engineering principles and theories to solve engineering problems.
+ Motivated self-starter with leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
+ Demonstrates sincere interest in engineering through previous experiences such as extracurricular-activities, internships, projects, etc.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability.
+ Ability to close on discrete tasking in a timely manner.
+ Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience in Creo, AutoCAD, ANSYS, or MATLAB is a plus
**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $48620 - $65670
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
