The Opportunity:
CACI | SystemWare in Herndon, VA is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern for the summer of 2025 to assist our Senior Mechanical Engineers in development of new products. The role will interface with a cross-function team including Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Software Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers/Technicians. You will be required to work 100% on-site.

Responsibilities:

Using SolidWorks CAD software to translate 3D Models into 2D component drawings and 2D manufacturing assembly drawings, as well as 3D design of assembly fixtures for manufacturing useUsing SolidWorks Flow Simulation to iterate 3D model features for optimized performanceEvaluating prototype parts and possible hand modifying parts to achieve proper form, fix and functionEnvironmental testing of prototype assemblies for performance and reliabilityIdentifying alternate Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) parts



Qualifications:

Required: 

Must be currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical EngineeringMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the futureDemonstrate your ability to thrive in both collaborative team environments and independent projectsShowcase excellent communication skills and a respectful attitude that fosters a positive work cultureBring your expertise in SolidWorks CAD software to life in practical applicationsApply your knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5-2018) to precision engineering tasksNavigate the world of machine shop tools with confidence and a keen eye for safetyLeverage your hands-on experience in mechanical assembly to contribute to groundbreaking projects



Desired:

Proficiency with SolidWorks Flow Simulation SoftwareCompetence in using basic metrology equipmentKnowledge of 3D printing technologiesHands-on experience in machining, metal working, and plastic injection molding processes

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$41,700 - $83,500
