Our client, a leading engineering contractor operating across Europe, is urgently looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join the team in the Sprinkler & Fire Protection division. With a strong understanding of mechanical systems, ability to analyse project specifications, drawings, and the capability to prepare detailed cost estimates that align with client requirements and company goals, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical projects.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work and required mechanical systems to provide detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical projects, including material, labour, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that clearly outline the cost breakdown and assumptions used in the estimate.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for mechanical components ensuring all takeoffs are complete and accurately reflect the project scope.
Evaluate quotes from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and quality maintaining relationships with key vendors and subcontractors.
Ensure that all bid submissions are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
Work closely with the project management team to refine and finalise proposals, addressing any client questions or concerns.
Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with project estimates and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Degree in Quantity Surveying/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
4+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, within construction/engineering with focus on Sprinkler & Fire Protection projects.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, and estimating techniques.
Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office Suite.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and collaborate with clients and project teams.
Experience in negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
