We are currently looking for a full time Mechanical Estimator to join our team.
The Estimator will support the Project Managers in the preparation of estimates, including quantifying material and labour, as well as gathering quotations from sub trades and equipment. This position involves working on a full-range of mechanical projects to analyze the costs of an prepare estimates as well as provide technical support to project operations as it relates to estimating, reporting and monitoring progress of projects, planning and scheduling, and dealing with project change.

Participate in full cycle, preparation of tender submissions, pre-construction conceptual estimates and project schedules for review by the Project Manager Estimate preparation for costs of materials, labour, sub trades, equipment for construction projects (lump sum). Based on contract bids, quotes, drawings & specifications Responsible for the quantity survey, unit pricing, general conditions cost, the application of overhead, and setting the proposal language or “Terms and Conditions” Work closely with Project Managers to create a bid strategy, techniques, etc. Provide training, mentorship and guidance to assigned personnel in the preparation, revision, and production of cost estimates. Review bid package blueprints and drawings Calculate quantity take-off detailing all the materials and supplies necessary for the contract to achieve specification Review take-offs checking for mathematical and technical accuracy Liaise with suppliers and collect quotes on materials Attend pre-bid meetings for clarification Calculate a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads and profit Present bid package with tender price for clients according to specifications Review addendums as needed and incorporate into tenders Track actual costs against the estimate and identify possible improvements to processes Perform other duties are requiredRequired Skills
Strong problem-solving skills Professional, approachable and customer-service oriented Strong work ethic and positive team attitude Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy Good mathematical and analytical skills Strong oral and written communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project) Experience and proficiency with estimating and computer software packages would be an asset (i.e. Accubid, Quickpen, Procore etc.)Required Experience
Five years of related work experience with a proven track record in the local marketplace Post-secondary Degree and/or Diploma and/or valid Journeyperson Certifications in the Mechanical Field Complete understanding of the local construction association and all its documentation Strong knowledge of construction systemsAdditional Requirements
