Description:
The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for accurately calculating project costs for design build and plan and spec mechanical systems in construction, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems. This role will involve reviewing project documentation, gathering necessary data, and working closely with our divisional estimators, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate bids. Analyze project plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine scope, materials, and labor requirements. Develop detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing. Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services to ensure accurate pricing. Collaborate with the project management and engineering teams to prepare competitive bids. Evaluate and assess the risks associated with project budgets and schedules. Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather additional project information. Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure optimal pricing and contract terms. Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines based on the estimates provided. Track and manage bid documents, change orders, and addendums throughout the bidding process. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of market trends, costs, and new technologies in mechanical systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction or mechanical contracting industry. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping) and construction methodologies. Well versed in both Plan & Spec and Design build mechanical systems. Candidate should have the ability to take off a designed or complete a system design in VAV and VRF systems, Heat Load calculations, and Mechanical & Plumbing piping. Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and technical specifications. Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., FastDUCT, Trimble, CHVAC Load Calculation software) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required. Industry certifications (e.g., ASHRAE, LEED) are a plus.
