You will be your region's primary engineering resource when they need technical advice, and you'll use your experience in conjunction with other teams to:
• Solve problems, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action Plans (CA) for electromechanical equipment failures.
• Directly support the physical infrastructure operation team with training, operational procedure reviews, and event support.
• Propose existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, increase energy efficiency, and sustainability.
• Interact with the internal operations, project engineering, hardware engineering, health and safety, and environmental team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in the services provided.
• Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographic regions.
• Initiate and lead engineering audits on cooling, power distribution, fire protection, and other systems, including site visits to Amazon data centers.
• Produce technical reports describing availability risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.
• Act as resident engineer during new construction projects supporting execution, commissioning, and transfer for operation.

A day in the life
Every day, you'll interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of data centers. You will prioritize your activities to support the availability and security of data center servers, focusing on the most impactful actions. You will have the opportunity to work on local and global projects. Therefore, fluent English is fundamental to this position.
About the team
The Field Engineering team covers the entire lifecycle of data centers, from the initial design to the execution of retrofit plans. Field engineers are generally the first to whom customers contact for technical advice on mechanical, electrical, fire protection and hydraulic solutions.
Typically, the team analyzes field problems to propose local and large scale solutions, avoiding recurrence. In addition, the team collects and analyzes data to propose predictive actions aimed at eliminating risks before they become critical events in the physical infrastructure of data centers.
