General Purpose

Duties include responsibility for safely and efficiently diagnosing and performing maintenance repairs on equipment used in a surface coal mining operation. Equipment may include:  Caterpillar equipment (loaders, scrapers, track dozers, rubber-tired dozers, graders, haul trucks, etc.); LeTourneau loader, Hitachi backhoe; Marion draglines; conveyor and crushing systems; drills (Ingersoll Rand, DrilTech, Schroeder). All work will be performed in compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements to keep the equipment at an acceptable availability and reliability for the mine to meet its budgeted goals in safety, cost, productivity and environmental commitments.

Requirements A high school diploma, GED or proof of equivalent. A minimum of three years of industrial equipment journeyman mechanical experience, or a combination of experience and education. Experience with Cummins and/or Caterpillar engines associated with surface coal mining equipment (see above) is preferred. Must successfully pass a written test. Must provide own tools.
