Mechanical Maintenance Superintendant

Position Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Superintendent, Mechanical to oversee the maintenance and reliability of furnaces, treatment plants, and ancillary equipment, including water treatment and raw material plants. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the furnaces operate at their design capacity while providing technical leadership in mechanical problem-solving and maintenance best practices.
  Key Responsibilities: Lead the mechanical maintenance team to ensure operational efficiency and equipment reliability. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for furnace mechanical maintenance. Provide technical support for troubleshooting complex mechanical failures. Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards (ISO 9001, 14000, 18001). Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and recommend improvements for maintenance processes. Coordinate and liaise with related functions/departments to enhance maintenance execution. Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships. Manage spare parts inventory efficiently. Supervise maintenance contracts and ensure cost-effective service delivery. Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations and standards. Lead the department in the design, construction, commissioning, and startup of large-scale Greenfield operations. Provide technical expertise in equipment fabrication, installation, and lubrication. Oversee crane, piping, and welding maintenance. Manage expenditures, cost control, and budget allocation for mechanical operations. Fulfill standby duties as per the schedule, ensuring furnace area stability.   Qualifications & Experience: Education:
BSc in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of experience, OR Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 20 years of experience. Technical & Functional Skills:
Extensive experience in furnace maintenance and heavy industry environments (preferably smelter plants). Strong mechanical design knowledge and ability to interpret hydraulic diagrams. Expertise in pumps selection, installation, and repair. Proven experience in belt conveyors, compressors, fans, blowers, bucket elevators, and piping systems. Knowledge of equipment lubrication, greasing, and fabrication processes. Ability to lead and develop engineers and technicians effectively. Excellent reporting, analytical, and presentation skills. Experience in cost control, maintenance contract management, and lean manufacturing (5S). Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.   Competencies Required: Management & Leadership:
