We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician located in Solvay, NY. This Maintenance Technician position inspects, tests, repairs, installs, and maintains industrial equipment and the facility in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications. This facility is operated as a team concept mill and all individuals are given the opportunity to work to their full potential. This job description does not in any way limit the responsibilities of the Mechanical Maintenance Technician position.
How you will impact WestRock:Effective interpersonal and team skills Ability to plan, organize, and execute work for both individual and small group effortUtilizing multi-disciplinary knowledge, skills, and training Understanding of mill equipment and processesComputer literateEffective trouble-shooter within area of expertisePossess initiative; attention to detail; follow-throughFifty pounds lifting capability; normal hearing/vision with correction; ability to climb stairs and catwalksMinimum: high school diploma; journey level; or trade school and equivalent experience (5 years industrial experience)
What you need to succeed: High School Diploma / GED is requiredJourneyman Certificate, and/or vocational/technical training.Effective first response to unplanned mill shut down situationsEquipment/process optimizationPlanning and executing shutdown activitiesSupports continuous improvement of preventive maintenanceParticipates in trouble-shooting efforts to respond to equipment failures and/or process deficienciesParticipates in root cause analysis and execution of corrective actions to minimize recurrence of unplanned shutdownsResponsible for vendor contact as requestedWill work with Planners to identify procurement needsMember of rotation pool to support Shift TeamsMinimum 44 hours per week with extended hours to meet mill needs including call-ins

Pay Range: $40.41 - $46.18/hour
