Mechanical/Piping Field Engineer - S3D
The Mechanical/Piping Field Engineer is responsible for activities relating to construction engineering within the Mechanical/Piping discipline. Duties include interpreting design drawings and specifications, piping and equipment installations, field verification of materials, and technical direction to field personnel as required. This position requires good planning and organizational skills, ability to perform detailed inspections and the ability to produce accurate, clear and concise documentation. In this role, you will provide field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. **This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC** **MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS** + Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve conflicts in design and construction related to the installation and testing of installed commodities. + Develop installation change notices related to new installations and modifications to existing installations on non-process systems. + Responsible for quantity take-off, control, tracking, reporting, and forecasting for mechanical discipline. + Coordinate with the Procurement Organization for field procured materials, material substitution, services and equipment. + Review material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials. + Coordinate with Field Supervision and Subcontractors to plan/support construction schedules. + Coordinate subcontract activities to ensure materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications and interpret vendor design documents and installation manuals. + Plan and prepare mechanical work packages, Electrical Hazard Risk Assessments, and LOTO’s. + Perform other duties as required by S3D management. + Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment + This job description is not intended to include every duty, task or instruction for which an employee is responsible. Other tasks may be assigned, based on business needs and the department supervisors request **REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS** **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience. + Experience in construction of mechanical including piping systems. + Must be computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications. + Must be familiar with current industry quality standards. + Familiarity with one-line diagrams with piping and instrumentation diagrams. _OR_ Associate’s degree in engineering or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 9 years of relevant work experience. + Experience in construction of mechanical including piping systems. + Must be computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications. + Must be familiar with current industry quality standards. + Familiarity with one-line diagrams with piping and instrumentation diagrams. _OR_ HS Diploma and 11 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree. + Experience in construction of mechanical including piping systems. + Must be computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications. + Must be familiar with current industry quality standards. + Familiarity with one-line diagrams with piping and instrumentation diagrams. **Preferred Experience:** + Knowledge and experience in construction methods and processes, and safety compliance. + Knowledge and experience in use of MicroStation to edit drawings. Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in very small and/or confined spaces, and lifting to 50 lbs. **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS** (EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity. **This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.** **Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship** **Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site** . **COMPENSATION & BENEFITS** HIRING SALARY RANGE: $99,193.03 - $154,255.09 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
