Mechanical Project Engineer Location: Hatfield, NSW, Australia The company: Global Mining Operator Assignment length: 12 Months+ (Subject to agreement) FIFO 2/1  
The Company

A global mining operator who has a portfolio of resources projects in Australia. As a result of a new project going into construction in early 2025 and aiming for a full operational phase by late 2026, we are looking for an experience Mechanical Project Engineer to take on this challenge.
 
The Role

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will oversee and manage the mechanical engineering aspects of the project. The role includes planning, design, procurement of mechanical systems and equipment in mining facilities. The mechanical project engineer ensures these projects are completed on time, within scope, and meet all quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

· Collaborate with engineering manager to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
· Ensuring the execution of the technical aspects of the work in accordance with the requirements of the Project Baseline
· Provide technical input during the design and execution phases of project.
· Managing the development and ensuring the technical quality of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, equipment and materials requisitions, specifications, etc.
· Implementing the Project’s change management procedures proactively
· Specifying quality requirements for the project
· Assist in preparing project schedules, progress updates, budgets, and resource plans.
· Assist in preparing technical packages for equipment and material procurement.
· Evaluate bids and proposals from vendors to ensure compliance with project requirements.
· Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
· Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during project execution.
· Develop and maintain detailed project documentation.
· Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, civil, and electrical engineers, to ensure seamless project execution.
· Coordinate with clients, contractors, and vendors to ensure project milestones are achieved.
· Act as a liaison between the project team, contractors, and clients to ensure clear communication.
· Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and solutions.
· Ensure that all engineering work complies with applicable site specifications, regulations, standards, and practices.
· Ensure all project activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
 
What you’ll need to succeed
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
· Proven experience in mechanical project engineering within mining or heavy industrial construction projects.
· Mechanical design engineering experience is highly regarded.
· Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Aconex).
· Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
