Position Summary:
The Mechanical/Tech Drafter will be for state of the art near eye imaging hardware. Products include eyeglass, monocular and binocular systems that integrate micro displays with optics, illumination, and electronic components, as well as waveguides and other OEM products. Individual must demonstrate effective interaction with a multidisciplinary team designing and developing these products for production. Projects focus primarily on supporting the Mechanical teams with drawings and documentation, research and development, testing and validation, and hands-on model building and rapid prototyping.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create mechanical drawings, bills of materials, and other documentation in support of the mechanical engineering group, using SolidWorks and Office ProductsAnalyze the tolerance stack up of complicated miniature assemblies and feedback into the design processAssemble, and test prototypes and mock-ups using 3D printing and other rapid prototyping techniquesDesign experiments and conduct testing with molded prototypes and early production productCollaborate with Optical, and Manufacturing Engineering on various documentation, fixture design, testing, and assembly pilotsDesign and modify mechanical portions of existing and future products using SolidWorks CAD softwareCompetencies:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Associates degree in related field, or equivalent experienceProficient with 3D CAD modeling and drawingsMinimum 1-2 years of detailed experience working in a product design environmentExperience with complex, tight tolerance mechanical designsGeneral understanding of tolerancing and GD&T conceptStrong organizational and time management skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks in a fast-moving environmentPreferred Qualifications:
Thorough understanding of tolerancing and GD&T conceptsProficient with 3D CAD modeling and drawings in SolidworksExperience with design and tolerancing relating to DFMAPrototyping and light fabrication skills including 3D printing, milling, drilling, sanding, filing, fitting of small componentsUnderstanding of various fabrication methods (particularly injection molding)Opto-mechanical experience a bonusExperience with SolidWorks PDMSupervisory Responsibilities: None.
