We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to support the design, development, and implementation of novel undersea sensors. As an experienced mechanical technician, you will be expected to leverage your skills to assemble, evaluate/test, and maintain electro-mechanical sensors and equipment. You will provide feedback to the design team to help improve the assembly and maintenance of the systems, as well as aid in trouble shooting and addressing any issues the system may encounter.Day to Day:•\tUnder guidance from staff, support development of innovative undersea sensors •\tConstruct and fabricate parts such as underwater deployment mechanisms and large sensor networks in compliance with specifications.•\tAssemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electro-mechanical systems. You will apply your skills in areas such as, but not limited to: Assemble various mechanical test fixtures , Mixing and applying epoxies to form waterproof connectors, Participating in off-site test events at regional lakes, Mechanical fit checks and modifications, Maintaining and organizing on-site tools, Fastener torquing and staking•\tDevelop and implement maintenance plans for the fabricated hardware•\tTroubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment•\tRead and interpret mechanical drawings, diagrams, and schematics•\tCreate, modify, follow, and complete processes, documentation, build travelers, and service records•\tOrder, track, and maintain inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment you are responsible for•\tSupport and/or train coworkers on the safe and efficient use of mechanical machinery and equipment

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Required Experience:•\t2-year mechanical, technical, or related degree, or equivalent experience•\tMinimum 2 years of demonstrated experience assembling, installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing prototype R&D systems•\tExperience interfacing and communicating with Engineers and Scientists•\tFamiliarity with tools and parts used in assembly and test of electro-mechanical hardware, including but not limited to: Power tools (drills, saws, etc.), Fasteners and epoxies, Documentation systems such as PDMPreferred:•\tExperience with 3D printing and/or 2-part epoxy/potting compounds is preferred

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
