Purpose of the Position:

The Mechanical Technician will design, analyze, and optimize mechanical components and systems used in  production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, CAD design, and manufacturing processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems, including panels, mounting structures, trackers, and balance of system (BOS) components. Perform analysis and simulations to validate design concepts, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance, to translate design requirements into manufacturable products. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) to create detailed 3D models, drawings, and specifications for mechanical parts and assemblies. Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments for proposed design solutions, evaluating factors such as manufacturability, durability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Generate documentation, including bill of materials (BOM), design documentation, test plans, and technical reports, to support product development and manufacturing processes. Participate in design reviews, prototype testing, and validation activities, providing technical expertise and recommendations to resolve design issues and optimize product performance. Support new product introductions (NPI) and change orders (ECO), ensuring smooth transition and integration of design changes into production. Provide technical support to manufacturing teams, resolving design-related issues, implementing process improvements, and optimizing production workflows. Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in mechanical work and participate in professional development activities and knowledge-sharing sessions.

 

Work Hours:

Standard Hours (Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm). Occasional off-hours support may be needed.

 

Education & Skills:

Associate’s degree. 2-4 years of working experience in mechanical work.

 

Required Skills:

Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and fabrication techniques used in producing mechanical components and systems. Familiarity with regulatory standards and codes applicable to mechanical design, such as ASME, ANSI, and ISO. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

 

Desired Skills:

Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, with experience in 3D modeling, drafting, and simulation. Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including statics, dynamics, materials science, and thermodynamics. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and other analysis tools is desirable.

 

Soft Skills:

Able to communicate equally well with various levels of the organization (technicians, production associates, and managers). Able to work in a team-oriented environment. Self-motivated. Good presentation skills. Able to handle multiple priorities. High commitment level. Ability to communicate to management.

The range for this position is  $55,885.00   -  $76,842.00  assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
