Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Reporting to the TM3 Asset Leader, the Mechanical Technician is a day-based role that safely drives asset performance and supports the shift teams on a daily basis. The successful applicant will be part of an ‘Asset Team’ to ensure all work carried out conforms to site standards, therefore delivering key KPI’s and the mill reliability strategy. The holder of this role will be required to implement the World Class Best Maintenance practices in a way that meets all Kimberly Clark’s standards and processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Safety:

Comply with all KC Safety Systems & ProcessesAssist in delivering line safety performanceWork to ensure Line Team ‘go home in same condition as they arrived’Demonstrate and drive the KC 3 Safety ObligationsComplete Process Confirmation’s where requiredIdentifies and records unsafe conditions using our hazard identification system, ETQWorks to approved Standard Operating Procedures as dictated by role profile in the site training system.Uses site training system to agreed frequency and monitors updates to ensure aligned with safest working practicesMaintains a clean and tidy working environment, ensuring housekeeping standards are met at all timesParticipates in proactive safety conversations with fellow workers and contractors to drive safety culture and logs these conversations in the ProAct system.

Quality:

Comply to all KC Quality Systems & ProcessesTake decisive action when in “red condition” versus standardConduct all necessary Process health checks and essential care rounds to ensure product quality is met

Delivery:

Support the delivery of all TM3 performance targetsPrepare and Lead Planned Maintenance activities including all scheduled Planned Maintenance shutsAssist with breakdowns and repairs on the assetComplete and continuously improve preventative maintenance activityAct on advice from condition monitoring reportsGather data on asset failures and use to problem solve to root cause.Contribute to failure analysis and implement countermeasuresConduct Process Confirmation to ensure maintenance systems are adhered toWhere required, provide support across assets/departmentsManagement of CMMS backlog to agreed targets

Communication:

Proactively communicate clearly and conciselyProvide detail and fact in communicationCommunicate conclusions and potential solutions to concerns identifiedCommunicates closely with immediate team and Asset Leader to share condition of areas of responsibilityMaintain customer/supplier relationships by adopting best practice communication standardsUnderstanding customer performance and issuesFeeding back actions taken to support customerConfirming with customer that the action has been successfulCommunicate issues and solicit critical feedback from the Mechanical engineer or engineering leaderMaintain continued partnering with asset teams, shift teams and support staff

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

An indentured Apprenticeship with (ideally) a HNC in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent  2-3 years’ experience in an FMCG process/tissue/heavy engineering environment

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES/ KEY BEHAVIOURS

Available to work flexible hours (where needed) outside of normal day hours to cover a business need, to cover shortfalls within the shift operations team due to resourcing issues, and to support a 24hr Call In Rota.Developing and using collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
