**Job Description** **Position Title:** Mechanical Technician I or II (Aircraft or Jet Engine Mechanic) **OPEN UNTIL FILLED** **Department/Location:** Office of Chief Ops Officer; Pioneer Generation Station/Williston, ND **Company:** Basin Electric Power Cooperative **Position Purpose:** This position services, replaces and performs mechanical repairs to plant equipment as assigned. Also, the incumbent completes light machine work, insulation removal and replacement. **Essential Functions:** + Maintain and repair all plant equipment and ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition. + Perform cleaning duties and routine shop/ground maintenance as assigned. + Maintain accurate records and reports of all pertinent information on plant equipment. + Contribute to overall plant safety by adhering to safety standards, participating in safety training, energy verification, and by adhering to all plant regulations and procedures. + Assist with developing preventive maintenance procedures and guidelines for repairing and maintaining plant equipment. + Perform and support planning and scheduling duties, for planned and unplanned outages or as assigned. **Qualifications** **:** **Mechanical Technician II:** + Two-year certificate or a DOL approved apprentice program in industrial mechanics or an associated trade; and three years of experience as an industrial mechanic or related; or + High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 5 years’ experience as an industrial mechanic or related. **Mechanical Technician I:** + Two-year welding certification program and three years of related experience as an industrial welder/mechanic; or + Approved apprentice program for either an industrial mechanic or associated trade and three years of related experience as an industrial welder/mechanic; or + High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and five years of related experience as an industrial welder/mechanic. + Certification in critical welds including high pressure pipe welding. **Other Requirements:** + Knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment and machine shop tools and equipment. + Effective written and verbal communication skills. + A valid driver’s license. + Resume required. + The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job. Prompt and regular attendance is a requirement for this position. **Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:** This position requires continuous standing; frequent walking, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds; and occasional sitting, bending, climbing, kneeling and crawling. This position is continuously exposed to dirt and dust; frequently exposed to extreme heat, fumes, chemicals, vibration, and noise; and hot to cold, poor ventilation, and electrical risks. The incumbent may be required to work in confined areas using scaffolding and catwalks and at heights up to 300 feet, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards. This position requires finger dexterity, good vision and hearing, and the ability to perform close work. Equipment and tools operated include forklift, crane, hoist, come along, sling, jack hammer, machine cutting tools, drill press, hand tools, saw, drill, sander, impact wrench, and hydraulic, pneumatic and measuring tools. This position is required to repair equipment under pressure due to time constraints (such as outages, etc.).
