Created in 2015 to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, the Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring Managers per departmental guidelines.
Your role
As a part of the Architecture and strategic development, production systems architecture team, you will be mandated to design and plan CBC/Radio-Canada future media infrastructure, with a specific eye toward our media production systems. Working in collaboration with the corporation's different stakeholders, you will help translate the needs and requirements into a robust Strategies.
Your judgment, knowledge, experience and analytical skills will help you achieve the following:
Plan, develop and design CBC/Radio-Canada media production systems (PAM, MAM, television and radio studios), Define solutions for heterogeneous environments that span across functional, technical, and business domains.
Designs and develop innovative solutions, documents technical specifications, with an eye towards simplicity, reliability, manageability, scalability, extensibility, performance and reuse.
Play a technology expert consulting and coaching role with the various media lines (TV, radio, Web) and IT staff.
Conduct specialized studies and technical assessments of the latest media technologies.
Identify and propose innovative ideas for optimizing our infrastructure in regard to media production and distribution.
Synthesize and explain to non-experts technological innovations to make them understandable and accessible across the Corporation.
Collaborate with the enterprise architects (Computing, networking, media and digital production) in order to align all aspects of our media infrastructure and the business requirements.
You possess
General qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or an IT related degree, P.Eng qualification is a strong asset.
Two or more years of broadcast technologies architecture or design experience.
Technical skills and experience:
Hand-on technical working experience with media production platforms (Avid Interplay PAM, Avid Interplay MAM, Dalet, Suite Adobe, etc) and its related various media production software (Avid ¸Media Composer, One Cut, Adobe Premiere, etc).
Experience with new and emerging media technologies (SMPTE-2110, UHD, HDR).
Experience with Cloud provider (Azure, AWS, Google, or other).
Expertise and knowledge of audio/video post-production methods and file formats and related technologies (File wrappers, video codecs, media processing, file-based workflows etc.).
Expertise and knowledge of audio/video production methods related technologies (Radio and television studios, production switchers, cameras, etc.).
Must have functional knowledge of cloud technologies, virtualization, networking, storage and security technologies.
You must have a proven track record in designing, planning and deploying solutions in a highly available and scalable 24/7 environment.
Personal skills and experience:
Most mandates involve direct daily contact with CBC/Radio-Canada employees of different technical skills levels, strong communication skills (both written and oral) along with good negotiation abilities is key for this position.
Technical leadership experience is required.
Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills is a must.
Ability to draft complex reports and presentations; thoroughness, attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and writing are essential.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, work independently and take the initiative.
Functional bilingualism is a strong asset.
