Media Production Specialist

The Media Production Specialist provides expertise and support for media creation and support for media creation and production across the Hillman Library Media Labs. Reporting to the Head of Media Services, the position facilitates media creation and production through individual consultation and group instruction for members of the Pitt community who are engaging in media creation for research, teaching, and learning. The position will develop and support instructional partnerships between Media Services and members of the University community to promote media creation and its integration into curricular and co-curricular learning experiences. To provide a foundation of knowledge and skills for users of the Media Labs in Hillman Library, the incumbent will develop and maintain a suite of instructional videos, modules, and assessments. The Media Production Specialist will hire, train, and supervise a cohort of student employees to support the use of media equipment and spaces in Hillman Library. The position has a Monday-Friday schedule, 9:30-6:00pm, with evening and weekend hours assigned on a month-by-month basis.

Facilitates all electronic and mechanical technical requests and instructs students, faculty, staff, and others on uses of technologies for teaching, research, and creative applications. Designs instructional materials and leads instruction sessions. Oversees day-to-day functions of a specialized instructional technology learning space.

Must be able to receive and respond to user’s requests in person, by phone and online. Must be able to move freely through the Media Services in Hillman Library and other areas of the library as necessary.

Must be able to interpret, learn, and use technologies and tools related to media creation, sound recording, and editing.
