Location:
New York, NYVanity Fair seeks an experienced media reporter to join the Hive, its digital destination for authoritative, real-time coverage of power and personalities across politics, media, tech, and business. This position reports to the Hive’s editor.
Primary Responsibilities
Write sharp, timely posts that mix breaking news and social aggregation with original reporting on the media industry
Report stories and features that take readers inside major news organizations, chronicling leadership changes, technological shifts, and consequential editorial decisions
Profile intriguing and influential media figures, from emerging players to key members of the establishment
Explore issues at the intersection of media and politics
Participate in live coverage of debates, election nights, and blockbuster breaking news events.
Be a one-person publishing outfit, sourcing photos and videos and posting directly to the site using our content management system
Use traffic data and social-media feedback to find new coverage areas, optimize performance, and maintain consistent growth
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
College degree and at least 3 years writing experience
Sophisticated business aptitude and enthusiasm about the Vanity Fair brand
Deep curiosity about journalism, the news business, and the future of media
Experience using content management systems and major social media platforms
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Confidence and the ability to work in a fast paced/deadline oriented environment
Strong attention to detail with ability to multitask
Ability to anticipate needs and execute quickly
The expected base salary range for this position is from $70,000-$100,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
