The Media Services Technician II provides essential support for audio and video operations at the John A. Paulson Center and other venues managed by the Department of Music and Performing Arts. This role involves maintaining, setting up, and operating a wide range of advanced audio and video recording equipment, including video cameras, computers, Dante Networking systems, and large-format studio recording equipment such as Avid's MTRX converters and an S6 Avid console. These systems, along with other specialized tools, require significant technical expertise and training. Key responsibilities include recording orchestral and large ensemble music, as well as supporting or operating equipment during special events, live broadcasts, and classes to ensure seamless execution. The technician will also train users on audio-visual equipment, perform routine maintenance and basic repairs, and collaborate closely with students, staff, faculty, and researchers. Availability for evening and weekend work is required.
QualificationsRequired Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
2+ years relevant experience
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with and general understanding of professional video and audio production equipment. Experience with standard computer-based post production software. Excellent customer service and communications skills.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work in real time production high pressure environments.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $36.900. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
