The position is ideal for a candidate who is interested in developing a career at the intersection of Medicaid policy and data.  Medicaid Analytics Associates will perform tasks in the following areas: * Develop technical specifications and requirements for analyses and research studies that use federal Medicaid data. * Develop and update code sets used to identify key Medicaid populations or services using medical and pharmacy claims data. * Conduct background research on Medicaid program and policy issues. * Draft written documents explaining data and methodology that are understandable by non-technical audiences. * Assess the quality of federal Medicaid data and investigate potential data quality issues. * Use programming languages, statistical computer packages, or business intelligence tools to develop basic tabulations or visualizations that answer policy and program questions or inform research study design. Position Requirements: * A bachelor's degree with a strong academic record that includes courses in economics/social science, mathematics/statistics, computer science, or public health. * Academic or work experience performing data analysis using a programming language or statistical computer package (e.g., SQL, Python, R, SAS, or Stata) or developing data visualizations using a business intelligence tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Amazon QuickSight). * Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with others. * An interest in being a member of a team engaged in Medicaid research. Staff who contribute to Health-related projects or proposals will eventually work with our largest client, Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS). Most staff working on CMS contracts will be required to complete a successful background investigation including the Questionnaire for Public Trust Position SF-85. Staff that are unable to successfully undergo the background investigation will need to be able to obtain work outside CMS. Staff will work with their supervisor to get re-staffed, however if they are unable to do so it may result in employment termination due to lack of work.
