Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of experience in research and analysis related to Medicaid programs; public health, public relations, social services, health services, or administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Distinctions: Differs from Medicaid Program Specialist 2 by the close supervision received and the absence of independent action. Examples of Work Serves as a liaison between the department and the public for Medicaid programs. Must have an extensive knowledge of Medicaid eligibility policy, and Medicaid services policy. Maintains knowledge of current Medicaid rules, statutes and government guidelines pertaining to members. Refer members to the proper department, agency, or person. This may entail research on the internet and researching governmental directories. Confer with other department regarding feasibility of complying with Members' requests. Read incoming correspondence to ascertain nature of members' concerns and to determine disposition of correspondence. Compose email responses replying to correspondence concerning such items as requests for missing information requests, illegible documents, or unsatisfactory service. Respond to internal and external requests for the release of information contained in medical records, copying medical records, and selective extracts in accordance with laws and regulations. Complete correspondence requesting additional medical information and records. Maintain files and control records to show correspondence activities present clear and concise explanations of governing rules and regulations. Compile data from records to prepare periodic reports. Responsible for professional and considerate attention in all interactions. Responsible for communicating effectively with members, potential members, and providers in the manner (email, phone) of their choosing.
