Accounting Assistant I

The Medicaid Provider Financial Support Specialist serves as a key liaison between Medicaid and healthcare providers, addressing inquiries related to financial matters such as reimbursements, billing, claims status, and payment discrepancies. This role involves managing communication with providers, resolving complex financial questions, and ensuring timely resolution of issues to maintain smooth business operations. The specialist will ensure that providers have the information they need to navigate Medicaid’s financial processes effectively, contributing to the successful delivery of healthcare services.


Support mission-critical initiatives and enable the growth of our business as a Accounting Assistant I at GDIT. Working on the Finance team, you’ll become an integral part of how GDIT is able to ensure the safety and security of our nation.

Our work depends on Accounting Assistant I joining our team to help ensure that Medicaid providers are paid accurately and on time, support providers in understanding Medicaid’s billing processes, and maintain strong working relationships with key healthcare providers. This role directly contributes to the smooth operation of Medicaid, the delivery of care to beneficiaries, and the program’s overall success.

HOW AN ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT I WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
● Performs routine tasks in one or more functional areas of Accounting or Financial Services. Provider in-depth understanding of Medicaid reimbursement policies, claim processing, billing codes, and provider payment procedures. Have the ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with healthcare providers and internal teams. The person must have strong analytical skills to investigate discrepancies, resolve issues, and provide practical solutions to complex financial questions.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: High School Diploma/GED
● Required Experience: 2+ years of related experience
● Security Clearance Level: n/a
● Required Skills and Abilities: Strong Communication Skills, Problem-Solving skills, Time Management and Organizational skills, Customer Service Excellence.
● Preferred Skills: The preferred applicant would have knowledge of Medicaid Management Systems (MMIS), understand and adhere to privacy laws, including HIPAA, and Medicaid regulations to protect sensitive information.
