Spectrum Healthcare Resources is excited to announce a potential opportunity for a Medical Appointment Clerk to join our team in providing outstanding administrative support at the 9th Medical Group Clinic at Beale Air Force Base, CA.
Requirements:Experience with medical terminology, appointment scheduling, and administrative procedures.Proficiency in computer and telephone operations to perform required tasks efficiently.Fluency in English to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.Familiarity with medical scheduling systems such as Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS), AHLTA, MHS GENESIS, HAIM, and GSL.Ability to validate patient eligibility through the Defense Eligibility Enrollment System (DEERS) and update demographic information.Prior experience in customer service or medical office administration is preferred.Duties and Responsibilities:Appointment Scheduling: Schedule medical appointments and determine patient eligibility for services through phone calls, secure messaging, or other methods.Patient Record Management: Maintain accurate patient schedules and logs using government computer systems. Ensure medical records are available for upcoming appointments.Communication & Coordination: Call patients or respond to secure messaging requests to schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments. Provide detailed visit instructions.Consultation & Referrals: Promote specialty medical care within the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) or at civilian facilities.Administrative Support: Assist in preparing patient notices for appointment reminders, no-shows, or reschedule notifications via telephone or written communication.Messaging & Coordination: Receive and electronically deliver telephone messages (t-cons) to Primary Care Managers (PCMs) and/or clinic nurses per standard protocols.Team Support: Participate in clinic Access to Care meetings if assigned to a lead clerk position.Front Desk Duties: Answer pharmacy and lab-related calls within the T-Metrics (ACD) system, ensuring responses align with appointment clerk responsibilities.Work Schedule & Hours:Workdays: Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.Shifts: 8.5 or 9-hour shifts, including a 30-minute or 1-hour uncompensated meal break.Maximum Weekly Hours: No more than 80 hours in a two-week period.
