Medical Assistant Educator Boulder Community Health, Boulder, CO 80303 $22.44 - $33.66 an hour - Full Time, Days. 40 hours a week.
Boulder Community Health is seeking a Medical Assistant Educator who will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering education and training for clinical and administrative staff within an ambulatory care setting. This includes the development and implementation of vaccine and medication management programs, training on medical assistant workflows and skills, onboarding new employees, front desk procedures, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) usage. The Medical Assistant Educator will participate in system implementation and training of the Ambulatory Services staff on workflows and processes, program and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications •Associate’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Education, or a related field required -OR- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or other relevant healthcare certifications required. •Certification in clinical education or relevant specialty preferred. •Training in Adult Education or Instructional Design is an advantage. •BLS certification required withing 90 day conditional period •Valid Colorado driver’s license •Minimum of 5 years of experience in ambulatory care, clinical education, or healthcare training required. •Experience in vaccine coordination, medication management, and staff education in a clinical setting preferred. •2 years of Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, etc.) and serving as a superuser required. •Previous teaching or training of EMR or Clinical workflows preferred. •One or more years of clinical education, training, and curriculum development experience preferred.
Responsibilities •Vaccine and Medication Coordination: a. Develop and implement training programs for vaccine administration and medication management protocols. b. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for vaccine storage, handling, and administration. c. Educate staff on vaccine safety, documentation, and reporting processes. d. Oversee inventory control of vaccines and medications and collaborate with the pharmacy department to ensure adequate stock and correct storage. •Onboarding & New Employee Orientation: a. Coordinate and facilitate onboarding for new employees, including medical assistants, front desk staff, and other clinical personnel. b. Deliver new employee orientation sessions on the clinic’s policies, procedures, and compliance regulations. c. Ensure that new hires are familiar with workflow processes, safety protocols, and patient care expectations. d. Complete competency-based orientation and annual competency requirements for all clinic support staff. e. Provide orientation for new interns and apprentices, introducing them to clinic policies, procedures, and the expectations of their roles. f. Organize workshops, seminars, and networking opportunities to enhance professional growth and career development within the field. •Medical Assistant Workflow and Skills Education: a. Design and provide ongoing education and training for medical assistants on clinic workflows, patient interaction, and clinical procedures. b. Create and maintain training materials that address medical assistant skill development (e.g., patient intake, vitals, injections, specimen collection). c. Monitor staff proficiency in performing clinical tasks, providing corrective training as needed. •Front Desk Onboarding and Education: a. Provide education on front desk procedures, including patient check-in/check-out, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and customer service protocols. b. Ensure that front desk staff are well-versed in HIPAA regulations, confidentiality, and clinic communication standards. •Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Superuser Support: a. Serve as the EMR superuser for ambulatory clinic staff, offering advanced troubleshooting, guidance, and support. b. Support IT trainers to ensure that all clinical and administrative staff are proficient in using the EMR system for documentation, scheduling, and patient care. c. Collaborate with IT and clinical leadership to reinforce EMR-related challenges and system improvements. •Community-Based Organization (CBO) Collaboration: a. Partner with CBOs to enhance education efforts and share best practices in vaccine distribution, patient care, and community health initiatives. b. Assist with the development of training materials and educational sessions for CBO staff to improve understanding of ambulatory care operations and best practices.
